MESA, AZ - Three people were taken to the hospital after their vehicle rolled into an East Mesa wash, authorities say.
Mesa fire Capt. Forrest Smith said crews from Gilbert, Mesa and Queen Creek responded to a call of a vehicle rollover at Power and William Field roads where they failed to find an accident scene.
They continued to check the area and found that a vehicle had rolled into a wash off Power Road between Williams Field and Pecos.
Smith said firefighters found three patients, a female in her 20s who was driving, and two females in their mid-50s in the back seat.
The driver was taken out of the vehicle without complications, but the passengers in the back seat had to be extricated using power tools.
Smith said moving the patients to a treatment area was also a problem because the vehicle was 10 feet below street level in a dirt wash.
All three patients had serious injuries and were flown to local trauma centers. Smith said all are expected to survive.
There was no word on how the accident happened.
