Gilbert woman accused of abusing boy

GILBERT, AZ - A Gilbert woman has been arrested for allegedly abusing a 10-year-old boy.

Maricopa County prosecutors say 39-year-old Jennifer Louise Barnes was taken into custody Thursday.

She had her initial court appearance Friday and was ordered held without bond on suspicion of child abuse and sexual contact with a minor.

According to court documents, the boy told investigators that Barnes allegedly forced dog feces into his mouth and then taped it shut using duct tape.

The boy also claims Barnes burned his genitals with a lighter and sodomized him with a toothbrush.

Doctors also examined the boy and found evidence of injuries consistent with his account of the incidents, which allegedly occurred between May 2010 and August 2011.

During questioning with investigators, Barnes denied knowing anything about the marks and scars on the child's body.  We spoke to family members off camera who say these allegations are false.  We are told that Barnes has an attorney.
