Volunteers clean up Chandler neighborhoods

CHANDLER, AZ - Volunteers in Chandler are taking action to make their community better while helping those in need.

A campaign called "Let's Pull Together" that is on-going this month has dozens of volunteers clearing weeds from vacant lots and from residents' yards who are unable to do the work themselves.

Students from Hamilton High School's team spent hours in the hot sun this week helping clean-up Adam Lindgren's yard. Lindgren is disabled.

"I'm kind of swallowing my pride asking for help," he said. "I'm still young and it is frustrating not to be able to do the work."

Volunteers will be working this weekend on other properties. They've already completed work on several homes and organizers tell ABC15 that they do need more volunteers.

Anyone who wishes to volunteer or who may need help can contact the City of Chandler's Neighborhood Services .    Even after the campaign is over there is some assistance for homeowners in need.
