More than 200 members of the Indian community gathered for a candlelight vigil Sunday night at Desert Breeze Park in Chandler to mourn the loss of 84-year-old Shivaswamy Hosakote.

Chandler police continue to investigate why Hosakote was brutally murdered earlier this month and who is responsible.

The group marched silently through the park holding candles and remembering Hosakote.

On August 18, the man was found stabbed to death in his car that was parked outside an LA Fitness, police said.

So far, police have no suspect and no motive. They're asking for the public's help.

Members of the Indian community described the victim as being joyful and full of life; now, they’re just trying to make sense of this tragedy.

"That has caused significant insecurity and uneasiness, and we wanted to come together as a community and show that if you are together, we will support you in happiness—also moments of sadness like this," said Satheesh Ambadi, president of the Phoenix India Association.

Silent Witness is offering a reward in this case. Anyone with information should call the Chandler Police Department or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS to remain anonymous.
