CHANDLER, AZ - A man shot inside a Chandler Walmart has died, according to authorities.
Chandler police Sgt. Joe Favazzo identified him only as a 36-year-old man from Phoenix.
The shooting happened around 4 p.m. at Alma School and Warner roads. Favazzo said the call to police indicated that one shot was fired and a person had been struck.
Favazzo said the alleged shooter is a 25-year-old Chandler man. He said the man left the scene after the shooting and went to his home where family members called police when he told them what had happened. He is now being interviewed by police and being cooperative, according to Favazzo.
Favazzo said at this point police are not sure what led to the shooting, but that it does appear to be intentional.
He said there was surveillance video which detectives say show a physical confrontation that occurred before the shooting.
No one else was injured.
Police have not released the name of the man who was shot pending notification of his family members.
The Walmart will be closed until 7 a.m. Monday, according to a sign posted on the door.
Favazzo said he did not expect to have any new information until Monday.
