CHANDLER, AZ - Police say a Walmart store in Chandler has been cleared Friday afternoon after a bomb threat.
Chandler police Sgt. Joseph Favazzo initially advised people to avoid the area of Pecos Road and Arizona Avenue.
Police got a call around 9:45 a.m. from a man claiming to be upset with Walmart over a shoplifting incident, Favazzo said.
The man reportedly said he was headed to Walmart with a bomb.
Favazzo said police bomb techs and canine units from Mesa, Tempe, Chandler and MCSO conducted interior and exterior sweeps.
The area was cleared and the store is back open.
It's unclear at this time if police have found the suspect.
