PHOENIX - Arizona’s latest $1 million Powerball winner has come forward after purchasing a winning ticket in Chandler on Feb. 19, according to Arizona Lottery officials.
Alvin Yazzie, an electrician, said he didn’t think he won anything because he’d heard about the $425 million jackpot winner in California.
Yazzie just celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary with his wife in December, so he plans to spend some of the winnings on a vacation to Hawaii, the Arizona Lottery says.
“Just keep playing,” Yazzie advises other lottery players. “Your number will come up.”
Yazzie was the 30th $1 million second prize winner in the state, and the prize is for matching all five numbers without the Powerball.
The jackpot will go back to its starting number at $40 million and the next draw is scheduled for Saturday.
