The Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating after a deadly crash on Interstate 10 south of the Valley Tuesday night.

Troopers said two vehicles crashed in the westbound lanes, killing at least one person.

The Arizona Department of Transportation said the crash closed I-10 westbound near Riggs Road. All traffic was being forced to exit onto Riggs, according to a news release.

Officials did not have an estimate of when the highway would reopen, and told drivers to expect delays and plan alternate routes.

Drivers needing to return to I-10 can take Riggs Road east to SR 87, north on SR 87 to Loop 202 Santan Freeway and west on L202 Santan to return to I-10.
