A Chandler neighborhood overrun with stray cats, near Kyrene and Chandler Boulevard, is about to get some help thanks to several valley animal welfare groups.

ABC15 was first to expose the problem, after neighbors complained they had gotten nowhere with the problem that had been dragging on for months.

Some say as many as 30 stray cats are hanging around a problem property.

The Animal Defense League of Arizona, and Altered Tails, a spay and neuter clinic, will help the neighborhood.

The organizations are partnered with five other groups, forming an alliance called "Fix, Adopt, Save."

The ADLAZ has created a fund known now as "The Chandler Cats" to raise money for the spay, neutering, and evaluation of the cats and kittens.

In fact, the group is calling for volunteers to help trap the animals.

"Once we have some more volunteers, it's going to go so much quicker," said Kaitlyn Wright, the Director of Operations for Altered Tails.

"We are going to be able to get these cats out of the heat, out of the outdoors and figure out what the next step is for them," added Wright.
