CHANDLER, AZ - Arizona State University launched TechShop, a members-only do-it-yourself workshop, in its Chandler Innovation Center on Friday,
according to ASU News.
TechShop's fabrication studio is part of ASU's ever-expanding presence in the Valley. The Chandler location is just the latest for TechShop, which has other sites in San Francisco, Austin and Detroit, among others.
TechShop requires memberships for those interested in using its workspace. A one-month membership costs $175, and membership is open to the public, with students and faculty receiving discounts. Some of Chandler's TechShop members include
Arcology Now!, Desarollo, Local Motors, Mobile Safe Case and SITGREEN Furniture.
The Chandler Innovation Center opened as a collaboration between the city of Chandler and ASU's College of Technology and Innovation and is located at Chicago Street and Route 87.
The general public was invited to take tours of the facility and see live demonstrations on Saturday.
