CHANDLER, AZ - Three men were arrested after a man, reportedly driving under the influence, led police on a chase that ended in a crash, Chandler Police Sgt. Joe Favazzo said.
Chandler officers attempted a traffic stop Thursday at about 8:45 p.m., when Clifford Ray, 29, reportedly continued driving and started a pursuit, Favazzo said.
The pursuit ended when the car Ray was driving crashed near Gilbert and Ocotillo Road. Ray's initial blood alcohol level was .33, almost four times the legal limit in Arizona.
Ray was arrested on suspicion of aggravated DUI, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, open alcohol in a vehicle, felony flight and driving on a suspended license, Favazzo said.
Passenger Duane Santo, 26, was arrested after officers found an arrest warrant from the US Marshall's Office for an assault charge from Virginia, Favazzo said.
Eugene Arthur, another passenger, was arrested in connection with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and failure to obey an officer, Favazzo said.
