Juveniles charged in connection with Apache Junction bullying case

APACHE JUNCTION, AZ - Two 16-year-old boys are being charged with misdemeanor assault after repeatedly abusing a boy on a school bus.

The Pinal County Attorney's Office confirms the charges, but because the accused are underage, they won't release any details. But, the victim's mother confirms the charges are connected to her son's case.

Last week, 13-year-old Reinhard Zorko showed ABC15 burns on his arm and neck he said were caused by the bullies.

Reinhard's mother Pamela said her son tried to conceal the burns and bullying incident.

"It's been hard because you have to let them know they have to speak up," said Pamela.

The family is happy about the charges, but a little confused that it took this long.

Reinhard said that since his story came out, things are a bit better. "People are being a little nicer and stuff like that," said the shy, soft spoken 7th grader.

His school, Cactus Canyon Junior High sent a letter home to parents this week stating they will step up its anti-bullying efforts, but not until after AIMS testing next month.

The accused bullies will face their first hearing in April.
