Travis Trisoliere: Authorities shoot, kill man with arrest warrants in Apache Junction

APACHE JUNCTION, AZ - Authorities say a man wanted on felony arrest warrants was fatally shot by officers in Apache Junction Saturday.

Mesa police Det. Steve Berry said a team of Mesa police officers and U.S. Marshals located 33-year-old Travis Trisoliere in Mesa and attempted to make a traffic stop.

Officers caught up with the suspect near Broadway and Meridian roads on the western edge of Apache Junction where Trisoliere allegedly went for a gun and was shot by officers, Berry said.

Berry said Trisoliere was a passenger in the vehicle and that the driver was not injured.

At least one of the arrest warrants Trisoliere was wanted for was for aggravated assault on a police officer, according to Berry.

Berry said it is not known at this time if the fatal shots came from Mesa police or U.S. Marshals.

Katie Aaron, a friend of Trisoliere said she wants answers from police.

"He was a good guy, he was just really lost right now, you know. And the cops they just backed him into a corner and he just feared for his life."

On Sunday, police said they had found a handgun with the suspect during the investigation. Otherwise, no other new information was available.
