Apache Junction neighborhood evacuated as safety precaution after disturbance call

A neighborhood was evacuated near Meridian Road and Southern Avenue Sunday morning in Apache Junction.

Apache Junction police say a man came to the door with a shotgun after officers responded on scene of a family disturbance call.

Two occupants barricaded themselves inside the RV until police were able to get the female out safely. She told police she was not being held against her will.

Police say they communicated through phone for several hours before the man gave himself up around 9 a.m. He has since been taken into the police station for questioning.

According to police, a large portion of the trailer park was evacuated during the incident as a safety precaution, everyone is back inside their homes now.

No charges have been filed against the male suspect.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
