Police are investigating a shooting in west Phoenix that left one man in extremely critical condition.

Police were called to the area of 67th Avenue and Van Buren Street around 7 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports about the shooting.

Witnesses told authorities that a man and his adult son went to the home to meet with three men, police said. They were involved in a drug transaction, police said.

The victim was shot shortly after arriving at the home during a verbal argument, police said. The son was not injured, however another individual assaulted the man's son who was able to run away. The man suffered extremely critical injuries from his gunshot wound and passed away at the hospital.

The suspects fled the area after the shooting, police said. A description of the trio is unavailable.
