PD: Man shot outside bar in Phoenix

PHOENIX - Phoenix police are investigating after a man was shot outside of a crowded bar on Monday morning.

Witnesses said the shooting happened just after 2 a.m. at The Funny Farm Cocktails near 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road.

Officers said one person had to be rushed to the hospital and is in critical condition after being shot.

Yesenia Amabizca witnessed the shooting; she said it started with a fight.

"Just one shot is all I heard. I thought it was in the air. I thought they shot in the air but then out of nowhere I heard screaming and crying," said Amabizca.

Phoenix police said they have located the shooter. Officials said the victim was shot by a security guard who was working at the bar.

Sgt. James Homes with the Phoenix police department said the security guard and another man started arguing just as the bar was starting to close down.

During the argument, the victim stepped in between the security guard and the other man. The victim was then shot as the security guard pulled out his gun.

Police said the security guard then fled the scene along with another employee of the club. The security guard has since returned to the bar and is now being questioned at Phoenix Police Headquarters.
