PHOENIX - Authorities said two people were taken to the hospital after reports of an unusual odor in West Phoenix Saturday night.
Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Jonathan Jacobs said around 8:45 p.m., crews responded to a hazardous materials call at a home near 67th Avenue and Camelback Road.
Jacobs said people in the backyard reported smelling an unusual odor in the area.
Officials said a 9-year-old who was coughing and a 30-year-old with chest pains were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Jacobs said eight other people were treated at the scene.
Fire officials said it is unknown at this time what caused the odor.
Authorities said no one in the area is in danger. Next-door neighbors were evacuated, but nobody else in the neighborhood was told to leave.
