Firefighters battle early morning house fire in Phoenix

PHOENIX - Phoenix firefighters are trying to find out what caused a fire at an unoccupied hoise on Wednesday morning.

Firefighters said the first flames were spotted around 5:30 a.m.

Witness called 911 after seeing smoke coming from the roof of a home near 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road.

First responders got to the flames, but not before the fire did heavy damage to the home.

Firefighters believe the fire started in the attic. No one was inside at the time of the fire because the house is being remodeled.

Firefighters pulled most of the contents out of the home and onto the front yard to prevent any new fires.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
