FD: Teen, 78-year-old seriously injured in Phoenix crash

PHOENIX - Authorities say two people suffered serious injuries after a two-car collision in Phoenix Wednesday night.

Phoenix Fire Captain Benjamin Santillan said the accident happened around 8:30 p.m. near 19th Avenue and Thunderbird Road.

Santillan said the crash involved a small Blazer and a 2-door BMW.

Fire crews said the 17-year-old driver of the BMW had to be extricated from her vehicle. Officials said she was  transported to the hospital in serious condition.

Santillan said the 78-year-old female driver of the Blazer also suffered serious injuries in the crash.

The Phoenix Police Department is investigating what caused the accident.
