PHOENIX - We’ve learned more about a teenage girl who drowned at a pool birthday party Saturday night .
Seventeen-year-old Angeline Davis was a refugee from Liberia, a country on the west coast of Africa.
Her family moved to the Valley just six months ago so Angeline would get a better education and have a better life.
ABC15 learned that Angeline went to the party with her 13-year-old brother.
He says she was in the shallow end of the pool when he got out of the water.
About 15 minutes later another boy at the party said he felt something at the bottom of the pool; it was Angeline.
The girl was pulled out of the pool and given CPR. She was taken to the hospital where she died.
Her uncle, Sampson Kawh, said she’d come to the U.S. with him.
She’d told her mother too many kids were dying in Africa and she wanted to go back to help save even one life.
Police say the homeowner and his wife were out for the night but they knew their nephew was having the party.
We’re told he went to Angeline’s home today to tell her family he was sorry.
