Suspects fire at off-duty officer, barricade inside Phoenix house

PHOENIX - Two suspects are in custody after firing at an off-duty officer and barricading themselves in a south Phoenix house on Friday morning.

According to Phoenix police, an off-duty officer spotted two people doing graffiti near 7th Avenue and Southern around 2:00 a.m.

The officer called in the situation and followed them, police said.

The group of suspects saw the off-duty officer and shot at him. Police said the officer was not hit and does not have any injuries.

The suspect fled into a home in the area. The SWAT team surrounded the house and a few other homes were evacuated. There were several people inside the home including children.

The suspects gave themselves up around 5:30 am. 

No other details have been released.
