PD: Shots fired at Tempe police officer during investigation

PHOENIX - Police on Tuesday searched a Phoenix apartment for evidence after someone reportedly fired several shots at a Tempe police officer.

According to police, the Tempe officer went to the apartment complex Monday night after a man arrested Monday in a carjacking last week told officers where the stolen car was parked.

At least two shots were fired from a second-floor apartment when the officer gout out of his vehicle after arriving at the complex and spotting the stolen car.

The officer was not hit.

Police surrounded the apartment and searched for the suspected gunman but didn't immediately find him. They searched the apartment after obtaining a search warrant.

The suspect is described a black male, 18 to 22 years old.
