Parents deny their son assaulted a Phoenix police officer

PHOENIX - The parents of a Phoenix teen denied their son assaulted a police officer on Saturday.

The alleged incident happened Friday night as the officer was responding to a loud party at an empty home near 48th Street and Chandler Boulevard.

When the officer tried to question a 17-year-old, police say he resisted and hit the officer with a brick before fleeing the scene.

The boy's parents told ABC15 that they told him to return and talk to the police, because they didn't believe he had done anything wrong.

They also said they did live at the residence, but had just moved to Peoria.
