Jorge Vargas murder: Police release sketch of possible suspect

PHOENIX - Phoenix police have released a sketch of a possible suspect wanted in connection with the shooting death of a detention officer outside his home on Thursday morning.

Sgt. Trent Crump said a witness reported seeing a subject who possibly matched the suspect's description and provided information to a forensic artist who created the composite drawing.

Investigators have not determined a motive for the shooting of 27-year-old Jorge Vargas.

Police said Vargas was in partial uniform and working on  his pickup truck outside his home getting ready to go to work.

Police said a person was seen running from the scene at the time neighbors heard shots fired and they found the wounded victim.
