PHOENIX - Thousands lined up for a 20-year tradition in south Phoenix.
The McDonald's at Central and Southern Avenues serves free breakfast Thanksgiving morning to the people who live in the community.
Dozens of volunteers participate in the event including about 50 students from Espiritu Community Development Corporation. It's a charter school in the area. The students come out every year to help those who are in need.
"The smile on the little kids' faces touches the heart," said senior Catya Rocha.
"It makes you appreciate what you have," said said senior Adilenne Diaz.
Both students say it's important to give back to the community they've grown up in.
"There are a lot of negative thing in south Phoenix, so I'm hoping these young kids look up to us and will feel compelled to give back as well," said Rocha.
