PHOENIX - Five people are displaced Wednesday morning after their home was destroyed in an early morning fire.
According to Phoenix fire, the fire started at a home near 39th Avenue and Southern around 4:30 a.m.
Two adults and three children were home at the time of the fire. The grandmother told officials she woke up and saw smoke filling the home.
The two adults and three children were able to get out of the home, but a dog did die in the fire, officials said.
Phoenix fire said four of the five people inside the home were taken to the hospital for precautionary evaluation.
Preliminary reports show this fire may have started in one of the bedrooms.
Fire officials want to stress the importance of smoke detectors, this home did not have working smoke detectors.
