FD: 2 children critically injured in Phoenix crash

PHOENIX - Two children are in critical condition after being ejected from a vehicle involved in a crash in South Phoenix.

The accident at 35th Avenue and Broadway Road happened around 1:45 p.m.

Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Larry Nunez said the children, both girls, were ejected from the vehicle.

Two adults, a 30-year-old female and 40-year-old male, were also injured. Nunez said their injuries are not serious.

Phoenix police Sgt. Tommy Thompson said a Dodge Neon was traveling southbound on 35th Avenue when the driver ran a red light, hitting a Chevrolet Malibu.

Thompson said a man and woman were in the Neon.

A woman and the two children, ages 6 and 18 months, were in the Malibu.

Thompson said the children are in critical condition.

Thompson said the intersection was completely shut down while police conducted their investigation.
