Crews stop fire from spreading to nearby home despite high winds

PHOENIX - Officials say fire crews were able to quickly control a blaze despite high winds Saturday afternoon.

Phoenix fire Capt. Ruben Saavedra said they got a call around 2:15 p.m. about a fire near 12th Street and Broadway Road.

A number of calls came in while firefighters were on the way indicating a large area of debris was on fire and threatening a nearby home.

Crews quickly arrived and were able to protect the home from intense flames.

Despite high winds, the fire was stopped before reaching the home.

The cause of the fire is unknown and no injuries were reported.
