PHOENIX - A Phoenix man got quite a surprise Sunday when a two-foot long alligator showed up at his home.
Phoenix Herpetological Society spokesman Pat Impiccini said the man, believing the gator was a large lizard, called a reptile organization for help.
When crews showed up to the man's home near 75th Avenue and Camelback Road, they discovered the reptile was an alligator, not a lizard.
Impiccini said the gator was taken to the PHS where it will be examined and eventually be part of the organization's educational program.
Officials believe the alligator was probably someone's pet that was released into a nearby lake or canal.
