Alexandra Morales identified as victim in S. Phoenix crash; police search for driver

PHOENIX - Police have identified a woman who was hit and killed Saturday night while crossing a Phoenix street.

According to Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos, 21-year-old Alexandra Morales was walking mid-block at 19th Avenue and Baseline Road around 6 p.m.

One vehicle involved remained at the scene, and the driver was not impaired, Martos said.

Witnesses told police there was another vehicle present, but it's unknown if that vehicle struck the victim.

That car left the scene, and police are continuing their search to find and question the driver. Police do not have a vehicle or driver description.

Detectives are also looking into the possibility that the victim suffered a medical event just before getting hit, Martos said.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
