A woman was rescued from a North Phoenix mountain trail after hours Saturday night after reports of a medical emergency.
Rescue personnel from several Phoenix area cities were called in to search for the hiker around 9:40 p.m.
Crews found that the woman had been on the trail since 3 p.m. and needed attention for some medical issue that she had developed since then.
A helicopter was used to find the woman and get medical personnel to her quickly and after rescuing the woman, she was taken to the hospital.
Phoenix parks are closed from dusk to dawn, so this woman was on the trail after park hours.
It is illegal to be at a park while it is closed, so in these types of situations, rescue crews are putting themselves in danger in order to rescue those still on the trails.
Phoenix Fire Captain Ruben Saavedra reminds hikers and park visitors to be smart and follow park regulations.
