PHOENIX - A 55-year-old man has been arrested after a woman was found stabbed to death in a North Phoenix home Saturday.
Police identified the victim as 48-year-old Shannon Leshin.
According to Phoenix police, officers responded to a call from a home near 17th Avenue and Thunderbird Road around 12:45 p.m. regarding an injured person.
When police and fire personnel arrived, Leshin was found with a stab injury to the upper body and was pronounced deceased by paramedics.
Police said that according to a witness, Leshin was last seen Friday afternoon. When the witness arrived home Friday evening the suspect, who was Leshin’s ex-boyfriend, was at the home.
The witness told investigators Leshin had recently broken off the relationship with the suspect but the witness thought that maybe the two were talking things out and she had gone to bed.
When the witness woke up on Saturday the suspect was gone and she found the victim in her bedroom.
Police detectives were able to locate the suspect and based on evidence and information gathered during the investigation, the suspect was arrested and will be booked into jail for the murder of Leshin.
ABC15 is not naming the suspect as he has not been formally charged.
