Woman escapes after boyfriend duct-taped, choked her

PHOENIX - A woman managed to escape Thursday morning after her boyfriend allegedly duct-taped and choked her because of an argument, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Police said the woman got into a fight with her live-in boyfriend at their home near Cave Creek and Bell roads over her talking with another man. The boyfriend then allegedly bound her with duct tape, choked her and threatened to take her to the desert to kill her.

The woman managed to get loose and run to a bar across the street with duct tape still attached, according to police. The suspect followed but returned to the home, where there were reportedly several guns, as customers in the bar checked to see if the woman was okay.

The woman was taken to a hospital to be treated for her injuries, police said, and the suspect is still at large.

Due to the possibility of weapons being in the home, a tactical unit was called in to serve a search warrant where they recovered evidence.
