Phoenix police say one person was killed and another seriously injured when a car struck a utility pole.

Sgt. Vince Lewis says 18-year-old Arianna Hinostrosa was killed when ejected from the vehicle driven by a 17-year-old boy.

The boy has been hospitalized with serious injuries but is expected to survive.

The crash occurred early Tuesday morning near North Pyramid Peak Road and 67th Avenue in northwest Phoenix.

Lewis says Hinostrosa was not wearing a seat belt.

No additional information was released.

The investigation into why the vehicle crashed remains ongoing.
