PHOENIX - Police say a woman has been killed while crossing a road in North Phoenix.
Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump says the woman was crossing Peoria Avenue mid-block near 40th Avenue when she was hit by a car early Monday morning.
Phoenix fire Capt. Scott McDonald described the victim as a woman around 30 years old.
Crump says Peoria Avenue will be shut down in both directions between 43rd and 39th avenues for several hours during the investigation.
He said the driver of the car did stop and is being cooperative with police.
