Phoenix police: Salvador Garcia-Sanchez accused of stabbing, killing wife after argument

PHOENX - A man accused of stabbing and killing his wife Friday in their north Phoenix home has been arrested, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Police said Salvador Garcia-Sanchez, 31, got into an argument with his 41-year-old wife, Maria Gonzalez, around 8 p.m. Friday and the fight turned physical.

He was arrested Thursday after he was released from the hospital, police said.

Garcia-Sanchez allegedly began stabbing his wife who tried to get away but collapsed outside their home near Cave Creek Road and Greenway Parkway, police said.

The two have three children together in addition to the five Gonzalez has from previous relationships, police said.

According to authorities, all the children were home during the attack and some tried to stop the fight.

Police said Gonzalez was taken to a local hospital where she died due to her injuries.

Garcia-Sanchez was also injured and placed under medical care before he was taken into custody.

Police said he was out on bond from I.C.E. for possible illegal immigration into the U.S.
