Phoenix suspect steals golf clubs, falls down before getting away (VIDEO)

PHOENIX - Surveillance video shows a man stealing a set of high-dollar golf clubs from a north Phoenix home and taking a fall before fleeing the scene.

Police are asking for the public's help in finding him after obtaining the footage from the victim's home.

Phoenix police Officer James Holmes said it happened around 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26 at a home on 64th Avenue north of Happy Valley Road.

The victim is a 63-year-old man who was inside his home at the time of the burglary.

He told police he heard a noise coming from his garage.

When he went outside, the victim saw the suspect running away with his "Ping" golf clubs, Holmes said.

In the surveillance video, you can see the suspect falling down before managing to get into the passenger side of a vehicle.

The victim got into his own car and tried to catch up to the suspects, but he was unsuccessful, Holmes said.

From his office, the victim reportedly saw the suspect vehicle slowly driving by his home just before the burglary.

The suspect is described as a white male, 18 to 25 years old, about 5-feet-10-inches tall, and weighs 170 pounds.

He was wearing a button-down short-sleeve shirt and black pants at the time, and he may have a facial injury, Holmes said.

The suspect vehicle is a newer car, possibly a 2011 "Toxic Orange" two-door Dodge Challenger or Charger, said Holmes.

Anyone who may recognize the suspect or suspect vehicle is encouraged to call Phoenix police at 602-262-6151 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
