Phoenix man claims someone lit girlfriend on fire

PHOENIX - Phoenix police are investigating a suspicious fire after a man called 911 to report that someone lit him and his girlfriend on fire.

Police said they got the 911 call just after 6 a.m. on Tuesday. The man told police they were lit on fire but when police arrived they found no obvious signs of a break-in.

The fire happened at a home near 15th Avenue and Union Hills Drive in North Phoenix. Phoenix firefighters responded to the home but no obvious signs of a fire was seen from outside the building.

Police said it appears that the two people inside the home were using drugs at the time of the fire.

A 26-year-old woman was taken to hospital with burns over 50% of her body. The man had minor burn injuries to his hands.

Marijuana was also found inside the home as well as a glass pipe.
