PHOENIX - Phoenix police say a man has died after using a Taser to stun an officer at a Phoenix apartment complex Friday night.
The suspect, who reportedly died at the hospital, has been identified as 32-year-old Jefferson Duncan.
Two off-duty police officers in uniform were hired to do security at the complex near I-17 and Cactus Road, Sgt. Tommy Thompson says.
The officers saw two suspicious people and chased them down, Thompson says.
One officer grabbed one of the suspects, while the other officer grabbed the other suspect, according to Thompson.
One of the suspects got hold of an officer’s stun gun during the scuffle and used it on the officer, Thompson says.
The officer then shot the suspect, according to Thompson.
The suspect was taken to the hospital for his injuries where he later died.
