PHOENIX - An off-duty MCSO deputy is recovering in the hospital Tuesday morning after an individual fired at his vehicle.
According to Phoenix police, the off-duty deputy saw a suspicious vehicle near the home of a family member near 35th Avenue and Yorkshire Drive around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
The deputy followed the car and someone in the vehicle fired at the MCSO employee.
Initial information indicated the deputy was only hit by shattered glass, but after further examination police believe the deputy was hit by the bullet that shattered the glass.
The deputy was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The deputy had a relative with him on a ride-along, they were heading home with the incident happened, officials said.
Police are looking for an 80's white Chevy pick-up truck with large white wall tires and chrome rims. The truck has an Arizona license plate: AVJ5168
