PD: Motorcyclist suffers serious injuries in collision with Phoenix garbage truck

PHOENIX - A motorcyclist is in serious condition after a collision with a garbage truck Thursday afternoon.

The accident happened around 12:35 p.m. on Deer Valley Road near Cave Creek Road.

Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump said the accident involved a motorcycle and City of Phoenix waste management truck.

Crump said the garbage truck was exiting a private driveway when the driver failed to yield to the motorcycle.

Police said the motorcycle collided with the front of the truck causing it to go down.

Crump said the motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained life threatening injuries. Authorities said he was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Police said the garbage truck driver was evaluated by detectives and was found not to be impaired.

Crump said the investigation is on-going at this time.
