PHOENIX - A man has been arrested after allegedly shining a laser at a Phoenix police helicopter Tuesday night.
According to Phoenix police officer James Holmes, a helicopter was patrolling the area near 7th Street and Thunderbird Road at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort when the aircraft was struck by a green laser light.
Officers on board were able to see 36-year-old Edward Bebec standing alone in the area and alerted security at the hotel, Holmes said.
Officers arrested Bebec and he was booked into jail on two counts of endangerment.
Holmes told ABC15 the officers had a temporary loss of vision. Officials said pointing a laser at an aircraft can cause permanent eye injuries and could cause a pilot to lose control of an aircraft.
No other information was released.
