PD: Kwame Desmond Mandley arrested in connection with 3 Phoenix bank robberies

PHOENIX - Police say a suspect in three north Phoenix bank robberies has been arrested.

Phoenix police spokesman Trent Crump said Kwame Desmond Mandley, 19, was taken into custody Friday near 19th Avenue and Southern.

Crump said the first of the three robberies occurred around 12:15 p.m. May 7 at the Chase bank inside a Fry's store near Tatum Boulevard and Bell Road.

The second robbery occurred about a half hour later at a Wells Fargo bank nearby.

The third was at a Desert Schools Federal Credit Union near 7th Street and Union Hills Drive around 1:15 p.m.

Crump said the suspect in all three robberies appeared to be the same person.

He took off in a red Dodge Neon driven by a white or Hispanic female.

Wells Fargo released a statement saying, "Our primary concern is always the safety and wellbeing of our customers and team members and we are thankful this robbery incident did not cause any physical harm to them."
