PHOENIX - Police are searching for a man apparently involved in a crash between an ATV and a dirt bike north of the Valley that left the motorcyclist dead.
Phoenix Sgt. Trent Crump said the vehicles collided just after 5 p.m. Tuesday near 56th Street and Happy Valley Road.
The rider of the motorcycle, identified as Frisco Davidson-Spurs Yankolovich, was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The rider of the quad reportedly stopped and looked at the victim, then left the scene.
Crump said witnesses describe the man as being in his 50s, with long hair and a "salt and pepper" beard.
The quad rider left the scene and investigators need to speak to him regarding the incident, according to Crump.
Witnesses said they frequently see the man riding in the desert and he has helped construct a number of the off-road "jumps" in that area.
Anyone who may know who this man is or where he lives is encouraged to contact the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6151 or call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish.
