PHOENIX - Phoenix police say a 19-year-old man is dead after being injured when two groups of people fought in the middle of a street in northwest Phoenix.
Officer James Holmes says the fight early Wednesday morning was between people attending a party in a condominium unit near 28th Drive and Cactus Road and people who were in an apartment across the street.
Holmes says detectives are trying to determine how many people were involved and why they were fighting.
The man died at a hospital after firefighters responded to a call about a person in medical distress at about 2 a.m.
An autopsy will determine cause of death.
According to Holmes, there's no immediate indication that a weapon was involved.
The dead man's identity hasn't been released, but Holmes says he lived elsewhere in Phoenix.
