MCSO: Suspect shot in shoulder as deputies serve search warrant at N. Valley home

PHOENIX - Authorities say a suspect was shot after firing on deputies who were serving a search warrant in the North Valley Thursday morning.

Maricopa County Sheriff's Sgt. Brandon Jones said deputies were serving a search warrant at a home near 51st Avenue and Bell Road when the suspect fired shots.

Deputies fired back, striking the suspect in the shoulder.

Jonathan Jacobs with the Phoenix Fire Department said in a statement that the operation was a joint effort between Glendale, MCSO and the Phoenix Fire Department.

Jacobs said the suspect is an approximately 57-year-old male who was taken to a local hospital.

Jones said the suspect's injury was not life-threatening.

Jones said no deputies were injured.
