PHOENIX - Phoenix and Scottsdale firefighters responded to a first-alarm fire at an apartment complex in the North Valley Friday afternoon.
Phoenix fire Capt. Tony Mure said the 911 caller reported that soldering work was being done in the attic of the leasing office at Pillar at Scottsdale when the fire broke out just before noon.
Crews made an aggressive attack on the fire from the interior but were forced out to fight it defensively due to the amount of fire and danger to firefighters, Mure said.
Air15 video showed flames pouring from the roof of the building.
A ladder truck was finally able to get in and pour water on the fire.
