PHOENIX - Phoenix firefighters are investigating what caused a fire in a vacant apartment in north Phoenix on Tuesday morning.
Firefighters said they were called to the Presidio North apartment complex near 11th Avenue and Bell Road around 1:30 a.m.
When officials arrived they found a fire burning in one of the complex's unoccupied model units.
The fire was quickly extinguished; firefighters were able to contain most of the damage to just the model unit and the apartment directly above it.
As for the cause of the fire, firefighters said they are currently investigating two causes.
Witnesses told firefighters one of the screen doors of the apartment seemed to be forced open. Because of the screen, arson investigators have been called out to investigate.
Firefighters said they are also looking at electrical problems as a possible cause.
