PHOENIX - A fire at a strip mall in north Phoenix Tuesday night was contained, resulting in no injuries and a quick extinguishing by firefighters, Phoenix Fire Department officials say.
Firefighters evacuated 35 people from the commercial fire at 7th Street and Greenway Road, Capt. Ruben Saavedra says.
The fire was located on the building’s roof, so firefighters used a ladder to get up and a hose line to put the fire out, according to Saavedra.
The fire didn’t spread, he said.
Fire crews worked with business owners from the strip mall to get back up and running, Saavedra says.
Saavedra praised the quick, smart actions of the fire crew.
“All the workers will likely be back at work very soon and we are very proud of their efforts,” he said.
The department’s investigators are still looking into what caused the fire.
