Family has plea for drivers who drink after Christopher Kutcher killed by alleged drunk driver

PHOENIX - A Valley family is grieving the loss of Christopher James Kutcher, who was killed early Saturday when an alleged drunken driver ran him off the road.

“I literally buried my grandpa a year ago, and I never thought I’d have to bury my dad a year after that,” said Michael Kutcher, the victim’s son.

Christopher, 47, was driving east on the 3900 block of E. Cactus Rd., when Michelle Nicole Ayers sped up behind him and struck his SUV, sending it off the road into a tree and concrete wall, according to Phoenix police.

Kutcher died from his injuries.

Ayers’ blood-alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit of .08, according to police.

The victim’s son now has a message regarding drinking and driving.

“Just take that moment” to make sure you can safely drive, Michael said.

“I wish I had more time” with my father, he said. “So, if you’re out there drinking, think twice… think twice.”

Ayers, 33, was released from the hospital and is charged with manslaughter, according to police.
